They also gave us a paper with QR codes to access audio tours for both the Drive Thru and the new Xpedition Dino exhibit from our cell phone. We stopped at the gate, had our tickets scanned by the attendant and was given a road map to the park. (In fact Google maps City View still shows that entrance sign as being there.) Now, upon entering Great Adventures there is a new entrance which is still under construction during our visit - with orange cones set up on the right immediately after the Hurricane Harbor entrance that lead us to a gravel path and a Safari Drive Thru sign. Previously, the Safari shared an entrance with Hurricane Harbor on your right as you enter the park from Route 537. I discovered the entrance to the Safari Drive Thru had been moved from where I remember it. We arrived at the park at 2PM on a Tuesday. On the day of the trip, I added an additional passenger by ordering an electronic ticket which I can display on my cell phone to the attendant at the gate. I ordered four tickets to the Safari Drive Thru online and printed them out to take to the park the next day. New to the park is the Xpedition Dino exhibit which can be combined with your Safari Drive Thru ticket for an extra fee and offers 30 life size dinosaurs complete with movements and sounds. The Safari Drive Thru is a 350 acre animal preserve with over 1,200 animals from six continents and, on a hot summer day, you can see them all from the comfort of your own air conditioned car as you drive through the park. We choose to go to Great Adventure's Safari Drive Thru in Jackson. Something exciting enough for a 10 year old but relaxing enough for an 80 year old.
During our school summer break we were looking for a fun family activity close to home.
